The Best Way to see the Tillamook Coast in Fall!

Join us for a scenic excursion along the Tillamook Coast and behold the changing of the season first-hand! As the cool, crisp air carries the coming of the season, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of towering trees, picturesque sections of the Nehalem Bay coastline and the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s Coast Range mountains—all from the comfort of a vintage passenger car. During your journey, narrative by one of our docents give passengers the opportunity to learn about the history of the railroad and the natural world the train is traveling through.

This excursion is perfect for families and couples of all ages as well as photographers and nature lovers alike! The train departs from our Rockaway Beach station and for a 45 minutes journey each direction. Upon arrival at the halfway point of the journey in Wheeler, passengers will have a 45-minute layover in the quaint town with views of the mighty Nehalem River and towering mountains. Shopping and food options are available in Wheeler during the layover (subject to the hours of the businesses in Wheeler).

Motive power will vary weekend by weekend. Below is a list of the days where our historic McCloud River Railroad #25 steam locomotive will be pulling the train along with the days that our vintage diesel locomotives will pull the train.
