Enjoy a Night Out Aboard the Moonlight Excursion Train!

Join us for an unforgettable evening aboard our steam powered Moonlight Excursion with drinks, live music and stunning scenery! This round-trip ride from Garibaldi travels north to Wheeler as the sun sets, allowing passengers to enjoy the return trip along the coast in evening light. This three-hour round trip journey is slated to be powered by the 100 year-old McCloud River Railroad #25 steam locomotive! Enjoy entertainment from a host of live musicians to set the mood as you as you take in the views along Tillamook Bay, Nehalem Bay and the Pacific Ocean (musical acts differ by date).

As a 21+ event, passengers are invited to indulge in local beer or wine as the train rolls along the historic route. Featured beers are brewed by Pelican Brewing and Freight Beer, with local wines crafted by Nehalem Bay Winery. We also have food offerings from Garibaldi’s own Twins Ranch Café available for pre-order when booking or for purchase on the train.

There are multiple ticket options to choose from that include drink tickets, food options, both drinks and food or just the train ride (see more details below). All passengers also receive a complementary sweet treat at the halfway point of the trip! Both food and drinks (including non alcoholic beverages) will be available for purchase throughout the journey. Passengers who purchase the options without drink tickets or food options will still be welcome to purchase those items on board!

Ticket Options

Train Ride With Food Only Included
Food aboard the Moonlight Excursion is provided by our partners at the Twin’s Ranch Cafe, located across the street from the railroad in Garibaldi. Disclaimers:

A Note on Weather and Moon Visibility:

The Oregon Coast has unpredictable weather that can change at any time. Please dress in layers and in accordance with the predicated weather. Please feel free to bring jackets and blankets. Due to the unpredictability of the weather, the marine layer may obstruct the view of the moon or sky during these rides.

Due to popular demand, not all excursions will depart when there is a full moon. If moon illumination or star gazing is of concern to you, please consult a moon calendar that shows illumination on a given day.

Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad will not issue refunds based on weather or illumination conditions.

Motive Power:

While we attempt to have the steam locomotive on every Moonlight Excursion, the locomotive is 100 years old and sometimes suffers mechanical failures. As such, the railroad reserves the right to substitute motive power for a diesel locomotive due to mechanical issues with the steam locomotive or other extenuating circumstances.

Right to Refuse Service:

As this train involves the consumption of alcoholic beverages, the railroad staff reserves the right to cut-off any customer from drink service at any time if they are deemed to be intoxicated. This is still the case even if said passenger has drink tickets left to use, as the railroad will not tolerate intoxicated behavior on board. If a passenger exhibits intoxicated, debaucherous or otherwise disruptive behavior, the railroad reserves the right to remove such a passenger from the train. No outside alcohol is allowed on board the Moonlight Excursion. Any outside alcohol that is discovered will be confiscated by the Conductor.

This ride is for adults 21 and over ONLY. Passengers must present a valid photo ID before boarding the train.
