Track Laborer Position

Location: Garibaldi, OR
Salary: $21.50-22.50 DOE
Part-time/Full-time
Non-exempt
Position reports to: Track Foreman

Position Purpose:
In keeping with the mission of Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, which is to educate about, preserve, and restore the history of logging railroading in the Pacific Northwest, the track laborer will assist the track foreman with the maintenance of track infrastructure, including construction, inspection and repair of track and other railroad property/facilities; equipment operation and maintenance; and travel and work within assigned geographic area.

Essential Duties:
The track laborer is required to:
1. Repair and rebuild track and/or railbed.
2. Lift up to 60 pounds.
3. Cut brush, trees, and vegetation
4. Clear right-of-way of litter and cargo spillage
5. Communicate effectively with track foreman and other co-workers.
6. Operate hand tools, electric tools, and hydraulic tools.
7. Work in all weather conditions.
8. Work around heavy machinery.
9. Subject to respond to track needs on an on-call basis including, but not limited to:
A. Overtime
B. Nights
C. Holidays

Qualifications:
1. At least 18 years of age.
2. Able to transport self to and from work.
3. High degree of comfort around machinery of all types.
5. Flexibility and ability to adapt to unexpected circumstances.
6. Willingness to work during weekends and around the holiday season.
7. Punctuality.
8. Possess valid state-issued driver license.
9. Able to work safely under FRA and GCOR Standards.

Working Conditions:
1. Extreme all-weather conditions.
2. Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces.
3. Safety sensitive work environment.
4. Loud Noise and Fumes.
5. Work on and around heavy/moving machinery.
6. Wear PPE.
