Office Manager Position
Location: Garibaldi, OR
Salary: $19.50-22.00/hr DOE
Full-time/Year Round
Position reports to: Executive Director
Position Purpose:
In keeping with the mission of Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, which is to educate about, preserve, and restore the history of logging railroading in the Pacific Northwest, the Office Manager will help ensure that OCSR’s office is running in an efficient, neat, and organized manner. The Office Manager position is vital to the smooth running of the day-to-day railroad office operations. This position will be full-time and reports to the Executive Director, while also assisting the other members of administration. The job is five days a week, and is a full-time position, with benefits such as health care, and paid time off.
Essential Duties:
The Office Manager is required to:
- Oversee general office operations and give reports to the administration.
- Coordinate appointments, schedule, and manage Executive Director’s calendar.
- Manage filing systems, office supplies, and assist Railroad Superintendent, Chief Mechanical Officer, Track Foreman, and Operations Supervisor with any and all administration tasks and needs.
- Oversee customer service interactions and respond to queries on ticketing and railroad calendar via phone and email.
- Direct vendor emails to the appropriate administrator.
- Works with Executive Director to update office policies and onboard new hires.
- Track ridership and volunteer hours.
- Arrange travel processes, including flights, hotels, car rentals, and more.
- Perform light bookkeeping duties, which include (but are not limited to) preparing cash bags for the train, depositing cash, entering invoices and communicating payroll information.
- Coordinate with bookkeeper on receipt of all invoices, receipts, and deposits.
- Keep OCSR office and associated facilities clean and neat.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in a business-related field or passing score on para-professional test.
- 1-3 years of experience in an office setting

Working Conditions:
- Training is on-the-job.
- The length of shift is generally between 7.5 – 11 hours based on the railroad’s needs during the running season.
- Work is primarily conducted at the main railroad office. Work outside of these areas may be required during special events and other circumstances at the discretion of the Executive Director.
- 30-minute lunch breaks are paid as there is no guarantee that the break will be uninterrupted.
- Smoking is prohibited on all railroad property.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
