  • Accessibility: This Train is Wheelchair Accessible via a Portable Wheelchair Lift at our Garibaldi Station only! There is not a lift at Rockaway Beach for boarding or getting off during the layover. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before departure time if you will need the lift.
  • Pets Allowed in Outdoor Cars!: We do allow dogs (and other small pets like cats) on our train, but only in the outdoor cars such as the Covered Open Car and the Open Top Car. Only task trained service animals are allowed in the indoor cars. Emotional Support Animals and Pets are not allowed in the indoor cars.

Enjoy A Spring Break Activity Aboard Our Historic Train!

Take a step back in time by climbing aboard our signature historic train excursion along the scenic Tillamook Bay and coastal estuaries between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach. Departing from both Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach, this train ride pulled by one of our historic diesel locomotives will take you on a 30 minute trip to the opposite location from your departure point. On board narration on this excursion treats passengers to an immersive step back in time, complete with beautiful views and educational information all while traveling at a leisurely pace to your destination.

Once at your layover point, passengers are able to get off to explore the restaurants, shops and of course the beach! The minimum layover time is 30 minutes, but you can choose a later return time if you want to have a sit down meal in or more time to explore. No matter what your layover time, you must choose a return trip time after selecting your outbound tickets. More info on how to do this is included in the FAQs section below.

Indoor Cars

Coach Car – Cushioned seats with windows at each seat that can slide open.

Table Car – Two seat and four set tables with chairs. Fully enclosed with windows that can slide open.

Outdoor Cars

Covered Open Car – Open air car equipped with bench seats and a roof.

Diesel Locomotive Cab Ride

Ride with the engineer in the cab of one of our vintage diesel locomotives and experience our beautiful route like never before. A cab ride unique glimpse into what goes into running our excursion trains for everyone from a casual observer to a die hard railfan. This exclusive experience is limited to two passengers.
